Regular dry brushing, cupping and drinking more water all support a good wellness routine in addition to supporting the treatments you receive at Emmanuelle Blanche spa.

1- Dry brushing helps stimulate circulation, improves lymphatic drainage and clear toxins out of the tissue, as well as exfoliates dead skin cells which makes the skin look smoother and reduces the appearance of cellulite.

It only takes a few minutes and it’s easy to include in your routine.

The lymphatic system, just under the skin, is composed of lymphatic vessels and nodes. Be mindful of the main nodes throughout the body: the back of your knees, the bikini line, underarms, elbow crease, neck and in front of your ears. It will help you to find the best way to dry-brush.

Before getting in the shower gently brush in an upward motion always towards the heart AND the nodes, starting with the soles of your feet. Move up your legs and into your thighs, then brush the tummy in a circular motion first (clockwise), then from the belly button towards the nodes, the arms from the hands to the armpit, and the chest from the middle to the nodes.

A regular brushing routine will leave you feeling invigorated with smoother more radiant skin.

2- The cupping technique has been around for thousands of years. It’s used for dispersing stagnation and relieving inflammation.

Instead of pushing down on the tissue, cupping sucks the tissue upwards to release and separate the muscular, dermal and myofascial tissues; exactly like the Palper Rouler French technique! This suction brings blood flow to the surface which promotes circulation and draws out toxins and impurities from the body.

To support Palper Rouler, our body contour signature massage, we like to do dynamic cupping during our treatment. Here’s how you can do it at home:

-Apply oil to the area needed to be treated. Gently squeeze the cup to get the air out and place the cup on the surface of the skin. Release the squeeze and move the cup on the surface of your skin, repeating the suction as much as needed while being careful not to overwork an area.

-Glide the cup in zig-zag, circular or up and down motion. Complete by draining toward lymph nodes.

-Use 1-3 times a week for a total of 10-20 minutes. Take a break to restore energy levels.

Tip: exfoliate with a good body scrub in the shower before cupping.

This technique is painless and easy to do yourself. However some bruising might occur if the cup is left in one place for too long.

3- In addition to dry brushing and cupping, remember to stay hydrated and try to balance your lifestyle with healthier food and exercise!
